NEW OFFICE AND RESIDENTIAL BUILDING NAHENSTEIG 188 B | LANDSHUT

N 188B

AN OFFICE IS BURSTING AT THE SEAMS OR - WHEN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION BECOMES A PROJECT IDEA.

After three years of planning and construction, ALN has built a new residential and commercial building on the edge of the Gothic-style old town of Landshut, directly on the Burgberg and at the foot of Trausnitz Castle. This was preceded by the fact that the previous office space in the adjacent historic Stadel building from 1746 was no longer sufficient. However, instead of giving up the office's long-standing headquarters and moving into new business premises, the office decided to build a new building. Only in this way did the team see the possibility of designing a building entirely according to their needs, trying out new ideas and developing a project that would meet the demands of a contemporary and sustainable building. The guiding idea was to create a house that was as reduced as possible in terms of form and choice of materials. Materials that do not require further treatment and thus make costly maintenance measures unnecessary in the building's life cycle. It was not important for the surfaces to be as smooth or homogeneous as possible. Rather, the result should be quality craftsmanship. And that buildings should also be allowed to age. For the construction and material concept, the choice therefore quickly fell on exposed concrete and corten steel.
